Make-A-Wish Canada® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses every day. Founded in 1983 in Canada, the first Canadian chapter was established after being moved and inspired by the work that had been done by the organization in the United States. Make-A-Wish provides wish kids with hope for better times, the strength for the tough times, and the joy to experience the present.

Wishes find a way to make the world better.

Every year, approximately 27,000 children are diagnosed with a critical illness. A wish experience can be a game-changer for these children, impacting everyone involved—wish kids, their families, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities.

For wish kids, just the act of identifying their wish and anticipating it coming true can give them the courage to fight harder against their illnesses and comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel like they can be optimistic, and others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy.
