We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night just to realize your furnace won’t turn on. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Niagara Home Services by Enercare.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating equipment will still not turn on, give Niagara Home Services by Enercare a call at 289-273-2229 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
