With the weather in Niagara Falls warming up, an AC repair is the last thing you want to think about as you turn your air conditioner on for the first time this season. So as air conditioner season gets underway, keep in mind a few normal air conditioner issues that you should be on the lookout for when you turn on your system. These are a few of the most common AC problems we see around Niagara Falls:

Insufficient Maintenance

Letting your air conditioner run over extended periods without being maintained is likely to only cause more problems as time passes. Whether it results in regular air conditioner service or you end up needing air conditioner replacement, concerns can begin to compound, negatively impacting the efficiency and operation of your system. If air filters and coils become dirty and stay dirty, it’s likely that it will hurt the compressor and fans that are a part of the unit, causing a shorter lifecycle. The answer to all these common AC problems is to have an AC tune-up done every spring.

Component Failure

When your air conditioner isn’t working efficiently, the compressor and fan controls could wear out, or several other crucial components may be affected. When your system cycles on and off frequently there is undue stress placed on these internal components, causing improper operation or premature failure.

Thermostat Troubles

From a dead battery to a thermostat sensor that isn’t calibrated correctly, there are a variety of thermostat headaches that can also occur. If it has been a while since you last replaced your thermostat batteries, it may be time to do so in order to avoid any problems with the settings you have currently. After all, your thermostat is in control of conveying your comfort desires to the system, keeping your home comfortable for you on the hottest of Niagara Falls days. Another way is to upgrade your thermostat to a more energy efficient programmable or ‘smart’ model.

Being familiar with common air conditioner concerns can help you check a few basic items off the list if you’re having trouble with your system, helping you get around AC repair or potential air conditioner replacement. If at any time you think you’re having air conditioner problems and need someone to take a look at your system, give the pros at Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 289-273-2229 or schedule an appointment online.
