On July 7th, 2016, a peaceful Black Lives Matter-organized protest was concluding when shots echoed in Dallas. Mayhem ensued and by the time everything calmed, nine Dallas police officers were hurt and five lost their lives.
Within a few days, Dallas business owners and community leaders came together to fundraise for the police officers and their relatives. Dos Jefes, a local bistro, hosted “Dine for Dallas Blue” and all of the proceeds of the dinner and silent auction they hosted were given to the fallen and injured officers and their families.
General Manager Tony Polendo of Calvlery Service Experts was more than honored to join the cause.
“I was celebrating my birthday dinner only blocks away from the terrible events of that evening,” Polendo recounted. “That night struck a chord for me. As a military veteran, I have absolute respect for anyone who wears a uniform in an effort to protect and serve our community.”
“When my colleague reached out to see if we would support this charitable event by merely attending, I wanted to show our support to not only attend, but give our time and effort as well.”
Tony and the Calverley Service Experts team collaborated with Lennox to auction off a new heating and air conditioning system with installation included at the Dine for Dallas Blue event. Below are a few pictures of the installation.
“I am both honored and appreciative for the possibility to have participated in such a incredible event,” Polendo said.
From your friends at Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning, we are truly sorry for the loss of the Dallas police officer community and for the loved ones of Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa.
